What do you get when you combine a handful of Crush Objects, sweet seventies style, and a black man with a degree in kicking your ass? Why, “Black Dynamite,” a blaxploitation revival premiering at Sundance.
Between Justine Joli, Charmane Star, Charlotte Stokely, Stacey Adams, and Erika Vution, there’s already five great reasons to go see this movie—but in case that’s not enough to convince you, we’ll throw in the trailer and a short interview with director Scott Sanders, too.

Fleshbot: What inspired you to bring back blaxploitation? Have you always been into the films, or was it a recent interest?
Scott Sanders: It was Michael Jai White’s (Black Dynamite) idea. We worked together on a movie called Thick as Thieves 10 years ago, and had talked about doing some more projects together. I was a fan of the movies, but he had the vision of how to do it. He took a picture of himself in the “Black Dynamite” outfit, holding the gun and the nunchucks, and it seemed obvious at that point. Nobody has played an authentic bad ass blaxploitation character since the 70s. Mike has 7 or 8 black belts, he’s a great actor, he’s 230 pounds, he’s in great shape, he’s basically a real bad ass, and he really gets it, so from the moment I saw him in the suit, I was trying to be a part of it, and actively trying to make it happen.
FB: Why did you decide to include women from the adult industry in the film?
SS: Purely from a practical standpoint, I needed real 70s looking breasts, and with porn stars, I knew exactly what I’m getting without having to audition them. They also obviously have no problem showing a little boobs and butt in an R rated flick. There was no drama at all with them, and if I had some no name “straight” actresses then it would have been more of a hassle. Plus, they are famous, so that doesn’t hurt. There are alot of secret porn fans out there who are intrigued by seeing them in another context.
FB: How did you pick the girls cast in the film?
SS: Well, since it was a blaxploitation film, I wasn’t going to cast women who didnt have sex with black dudes on screen. No IR dodgers… it’s the principle of the thing. Second, they had to have real boobs, cause it’s the 70s. Second, they had to have 70s looks. Charlotte Stokely especially looks kind of retro to me… and they couldn’t be all tatted up. That’s pretty much it.
FB: What was working with pornstars like? Were they easier to work with than mainstream actors?
SS: It was fun. They were really professional. They all moaned really good. I think it was easier to work with them than it would be if I was working with mainstream actors. It was really relaxed.
