Though we were were saddened by the passing of pinup queen Bettie Page, the subsequent trend of Bettie Page tributes certainly helped to brighten our day—especially the ones featuring Darenzia.

Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art School offered a tribute to the original alt model, with the equally inspirational Darenzia donning some Bettie-inspired outfits for an afternoon of art modeling. Though it’s not quite the same as being in the presence of the actual Bettie Page, well, we’re pretty sure it’s close.

We’ve heard rumors about the crazy things that absinthe can do, but we had no idea that it was capable of turning mild-mannered burlesque performers into wild, nearly naked absinthe fairies. Last weekend, Le Tourment Vert took over New York City’s venerable burlesque life drawing salon Dr Sketchy’s Anti-Art School … and from we hear, no one escaped unscathed. The last time we found ourselves enjoying the hospitality of Fleshbot crush object Molly Crabapple, we were at the Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art Show, a fabulous night of gogo girls, debauchery … and, yes, art. This Friday, Molly’s back in the art spotlight with “Demimonde,” a solo show at New York’s Arena Studios curated by friend of Fleshbot Audacia Ray. We stopped by the gallery last night for a preview of her work (and a chat with Buck Angel, who happens to be featured in one of the portraits). What could possibly be hotter than an art cabaret event with booze, burlesque perfomers, and awesome giveaways? An art cabaret event with even more booze, more burlesque, more giveaways, and live naked drawing action! We stopped by the opening party for Dr. Sketchy’s Anti-Art Show at Rapture in NYC’s East Village last night and while we were there, our video maven Richard Blakeley managed to corner Dr. Sketchy’s founder and Fleshbot crush object Molly Crabapple and get her to spill all the dirty secrets of life drawing, burlesque, and the ideology (or lack thereof) behind Dr. Sketchy’s. We may not know much about art, but we know what we like—and when the art includes hot naked boobage, we like it even more.
